In the May issue of Mohawk Maker Quarterly #12: The Power of Partnership, our friends at Mohawk Fine Paper and Hybrid Design celebrate the idea of collaboration.
As the printer of the Mohawk Maker Quarterly, we at Sandy Alexander enjoy our part of this journey. We are able to combine all the creative work of the designers by taking the final artwork and design specifications, adding our expertise in color science and producing the finished newsletter on five different stocks. To bring the 80 pages of design work to life and produce a finished publication that has become so popular in the creative industries is something we take great pride in.
According to Dora Drimalas, Principal of Hybrid Design, “Partnership takes many different forms, but when we collaborate with those who challenge, support and inspire us, we can create some of our most satisfying work. The partnership allows us to produce work that’s bigger than the sum of its parts. It’s a whole lot more fun too.”
This issue was designed and printed in a 9.75 x 13.25” perfect-bound format with a die cut dust jacket and contrasting cover paper to create three unique versions, each with foil stamped mastheads. The pages consist of several photo essays supporting the feature articles, creating a harmonious balance of full-bleed photography and text. The true collaboration of Mohawk, Hybrid Design, and Sandy Alexander is tested as 4 color process and match color duotones on twelve stocks including white, off-white, colored and textured papers. To top it off, an enclosed 5 x 7” card with a coordinating envelope featuring one of twelve designs with foil, letterpress, and offset is included.
