Happy Birthday, Salt Studios!

Happy Birthday, Salt Studios!
Time has certainly been speeding along and we are very happy to announce that Salt Studio is celebrating it’s one year anniversary with Sandy Alexander! We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time, and we look forward to the future.

Over the past year, we have welcomed the below employees into the Salt Studios family. As you read through the bios below, you will notice that these individuals have worked together at different companies spanning 20+ years. This is a true “dream team”!

Ed Ganzer, Retouching Artist

Ed began his career as a retoucher in 1976. His first job was with a company that produced art work for major clients like Sears and JC Penney’s. This was when retouching was done directly on the transparency or flat art. As the business continued to move from the traditional (manual) creative process to a digital solution Ed was able to focus his years of knowledge and apply it in this new medium. Computers were here and he moved quickly into applying his talent with his new tools. Ed’s career took him to several quality companies and has now found a home at Salt Studios.

Bill Cavanagh, Sales

Bill Cavanagh is a third generation Photo Engraver, who followed in his fathers and grandfathers footsteps at the same company. Bills family tree spans printing technologies from etching on hot metal copper plates to Macintosh computers over a 75-year time span at Horan Engraving Company in New York City. Bill entered the printing industry at the tender age of 17 and culminated a 25-year career as a 4/C camera gallery apprentice, scanner operator, retouching manager and operations manager. After leaving Schawk New York in 2005, Bill decided to apply his knowledge and expertise to the sales force at Peeq Media in LIC and Duggal Visual Solutions, in a unique dual Sales/Management role over a 9-year time span.

Ken Anselmi, Retouching Artist

Kenneth Anselmi comes from an artistic and musical family. After graduating from High School, Ken was an Art major at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. There he studied his passions of painting and sculpting, earning a BS in Fine Art and Commercial Design in 1986. Ken entered the printing industry after College in 1988 working at Quality House of Graphics in LIC, NY and eventually being hired by Chromart, Inc in New York. There he worked with his brother Dan retouching on the state of the art Quantel Paintbox system. The company was purchased by Schawk New York in 1999. Ken stayed with Schawk, immediately switching over to retouch in Photoshop on a Mac. At Schawk Ken worked along side his manager, Bill Cavanagh until 2005. He then applied his retouching knowledge and skill in several other high end studios in New York, before landing at Salt.

Kristine Bogart, Production Manager

Kristine received her start in this industry when she signed up for the Printing/Graphics Arts program in High School. That was in 1990. She would layout and print most of the schools districts printing needs. She received her diploma in Graphic Arts Production Management. Kristine never knew this would be the beginning of a fast paced and exciting career in the graphic arts business. She began her career working for a very small company named DOTS, doing mostly catalog and magazine work. She then moved onto larger companies mainly handling production on the retouching end, as well as backlit fulfillment for beauty brands.

Perry Roberts, Production intern

Perry has always had a flair for marketing which is why he intends to pursue a Masters in Digital/Direct Response Marketing. Perry comes to us from Los Angles where he was involved in various and diverse marketing businesses. He is very excited to have the opportunity to be at Salt Studios and we look forward to a long tenure with him!
